Linda Bryan is displaying her gorgeous and evocative photographs featuring the effects of winter light and the wavy glass of an old New England house.

About this body of work, Linda says “I live in a 200 year old house in Newbury, Vermont. My father grew up here. This house still has the original windows with glass panes full of streaks, swirls and bubbles, marks from a handmade process. These imperfections have a creative effect on both the outside view and within the interior spaces by warping objects and casting unique shadows.

Light comes directly through the windows in the late fall, winter and early spring, when the angle of the sun is low on the horizon. This can be a difficult time of year, because the daylight hours are shorter and sunlight is often hidden behind clouds. For me, the long dark winter can easily cause depression. Any light that come into the house is a reprieve and I followed sunbeams as they moved through a room, and watch, mesmerized, as the sun sparkled on the frost covered old panes.”

We can all appreciate the beauty of light in this gloomy winter. Stop by the Piermont Library to be up lifted by Linda’s wonderful photographs.
