Come to the Piermont Library to see the gorgeous botanical drawings of Louise Glass. These detailed and exacting representations of favorite flowers are worth a look.
Louise Glass holds a Bachelors Degree from Oberlin College and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art. She has taught art for AVA Gallery and the University of New Hampshire system. She has exhibited in the Midwest and regionally, most notably AVA Gallery and Art Center, Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery, Keene State College, the Hood Museum of Art and the Studio Art Exhibition Program, Dartmouth College.
Her botanical drawings are a separate yet parallel body of work to her work in fine art which draws upon similar aspects of naturalizing form. Executed in gouache, watercolor and ink, the botanical drawings were originally inspired by the history of botanical illustration and possess some of the character and feeling of botanical illustration, but arise mostly from her interest in the individualizing power of beauty, as it is displayed in a single flower.
